Join Our Brand New Auslan Course in Erina (Central Coast), NSW!


Learn to communicate in Australia's vibrant sign language – Auslan!

Auslan is a beautiful language, and an officially recognized as a community language in Australia. This is a Auslan beginner 1a course - suitable for students with no previous experience with Auslan. this beginner-friendly course is the perfect place to start.


  • Days: Wednesdays, 5:00pm – 7:00pm

  • Dates: 15 October – 3 December 2025 (8 weeks)

  • Level: Beginner 1a (Units 1–3)

  • Cost: $180 (includes handouts & homework)

  • Location: Meeting Space 2 (MS2) @ The Erina Centre, Central Coast, NSW

  • Certificate: Certificate of Attendance provided upon request with 80% attendance*


What You'll Learn


Unit 1 - Meeting and greeting

  • exchange greetings and make introductions

  • understand simple class instructions

  • learn about the role of facial expression in Auslan

  • learn to get, and give, eye-gaze before signing (requirements for visual attention)

  • learn numbers 1-10

  • learn the fingerspelling alphabet, spell their own name, and ask for repetition

Unit 2 - Our class

  • identify people in the class

  • name language(s) they are learning

  • give and follow simple instructions and action commands

  • ask for clarification, correction and confirmation

  • ask and tell where something is in the class

  • use appropriate phrases for arriving and leaving class

  • use numbers for counting (0-20) and simple time phrases in relation to class activities

Unit 3 - Needs and wants

  • name common food and drink items

  • make and respond to requests and offers for basic wants and needs

  • ask and tell locations of familiar objects and locations in the immediate environment

  • express likes and dislikes

  • understand basic signs about emergency exit procedures

  • *Certificates issued on request with 80% attendance

  • A minimum number of students is required. Courses may be postponed or cancelled if minimum is not met.
